PS Magazine, the Preventive Maintenance Monthly - 1952 Editions
A total of 4 editions was published in 1952
In 1952 a total of 4 editions of the Preventive Maintenance Monthly were published. The Preventive Maintenance Monthly is a series of United States Army technical bulletins that are published as a monthly magazine with comic book-style art to illustrate proper preventive maintenance methods (The magazine's title derives from its being a "postscript" to technical manuals and other published maintenance guidance).
Each issue of PS Magazine consisted of a color comic book style cover, often designed and drawn by Will Eisner; eight full pages of four color comic continuity story in the middle; and the rest was filled with technical, safety, and policy information printed in two colors to save money. The continuity story starred his earlier character and was called "Joe's Dope Sheet."
Each episode offers the same cautionary tale: a soldier who ignores preventive maintenance learns of its importance in the end. Eisner commanded a prominent level of freedom to create the continuity section and he used his colorful comic style to draw the reader in.
We have gone the extra mile to edit all the PDF´s of the Preventive Maintenance Monthly bulletins as most of the older issues available were not correctly scaled and had white borders. To make the PDF´s easier readable of all types of devices we also split the double-sided pages into single ones...
